Inlays

Pietra dura is the craft the Makrana quarries are known for: shaped pieces of stone cut so precisely that they meet without a visible joint. Our inlayers work the same way today, by hand, one piece at a time.

We inlay floors and medallions, feature walls, dining and coffee table tops and the outside of carved bathtubs. Each design is drawn as a whole, then cut, inlaid and dry-laid in the workshop so the pattern is proven before it reaches site.
